With 25 years of experience leading the development of advanced software, electronic, and mechanical systems for autonomous ground vehicles and complex systems, I have a proven track record in this field. As the head of Hyundai Mobis’s North America autonomous vehicle department, I oversee software teams that work across the spectrum of advanced engineering through mass production in highway driving, low-speed driving and parking, and in-cabin monitoring. My startup experience is from founding MIC, where I secured and completed numerous defense R&D contracts developing stereo-based autonomy for ground robots. My expertise includes strategic planning, functional management, project management, communication, and cost management. I can initiate and lead the development of research prototypes, software architectures, and software products that achieve management's directives and strategies, as well as identify gaps in market offerings and advocate for projects to increase capabilities. As department head, I am experienced in supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and counseling employees, hiring and retaining highly talented individuals, and establishing goals and expectations. I am a skilled and experienced professional in autonomous vehicles and complex systems, with a proven ability to lead through managers to ensure their success.
